More tips:

  • Use lean ground beef- This will help cut down on all the grease. Just don’t get too lean of a cut or they will dry out. Normally I get 80/20.
  • Substitute ground turkey for ground beef.
  • Meat thermometer- Make sure the burgers reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees at the thickest portion of the burger.
  • Don’t skimp on seasoning. It gives the burger so much flavor.
  • Make sliders instead of regular size burgers if you have kiddos with smaller appetites. Sliders also work great for parties. Perfect for little hands or when you need smaller portions.
  • Don’t crowd or overlap the burgers in the air fryer. The burgers need to be in a single layer.

How do you keep burgers flat in an air fryer? ›

Preheat air fryer to 360 degrees. Mix together the ground beef, minced garlic, salt, and pepper with your hands. Form ground beef into 4 patties and press them down with the back of a pie plate to make them evenly flat. Place hamburgers in a single layer inside the air fryer.

How long does it take to cook a hamburger in an air fryer at 400 degrees? ›

Are burgers better in the air fryer or pan? ›

Since air fryers cook at a consistent temperature and pressure, your air-fried burgers will turn out the same every time. While they won't get the richness or smokiness of pan-frying and grilling, air-fried burgers will get a bit of crispness around the sides.

Are burgers in air fryer good? ›

Burgers in the air fryer are amazing. They may be very slightly healthier than if you pan fry them but they won't be any healthier than on the grill. They're fine. I make them once a week in my air fryer.

PRO TIP: For best results, preheat the air fryer and lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil to avoid sticking. If your air fryer doesn't have a preheat setting allow it to run for five minutes before adding the burgers.

How do you tell if a burger is done without cutting it? ›

Ground beef is safe when cooked to an internal temperature of 160 °F as measured with a food thermometer. If you are cooking thin burgers, you can insert the probe of the thermometer at an angle, or sideways into the burger.

Foil is safe to use in an air fryer so long as you follow three basic rules: never let foil touch the heating element; make sure the foil is weighted so it doesn't blow around the basket; and avoid contact with acidic ingredients, which can cause the foil to leach onto your food.

How do you keep burgers juicy when frying? ›

Adding a divot into the centre of the patty will help stop shrinkage, so you don't need to squash the patties while they're in the pan. Cook till three-quarters done, then move to a plate to rest and finish cooking with residual heat. This will stop the meat from drying out.

How do you make hamburgers flatter? ›

You shape the beef into a thick disk shape and then make a wide and deep indentation in the middle of the patty. As the burger shrinks during cooking, the indentation should fill and make for a perfectly flat and even burger shape that's ideal for topping with cheese and sliding onto a bun.
