Maybe you and your partner love Disney and have a special connection to a certain film or character, but you’re not so sure that a full-on Disney-themed wedding is for you. Or maybe you’re planning to go to Disneyland® Resort for your honeymoon, so you want to incorporate that into the reception and ceremony without it being totally Disney. No worries! There are lots of ways to incorporate some Disney magic into your wedding without feeling cartoonish, over-the-top, or like it’s totally cliche. We’ve put together a few of our favorite subtle Disney wedding ideas to help add just a little bit of pixie dust and fun to your special day.

Hidden Mickeys

“Hidden Mickeys” are iconic at Disney-owned properties and mouse ears are subtly worked into architecture and design. Why not follow suit at your wedding? Your guests and bridal party will love trying to hunt them down. Consider incorporating them into your manicure or pedicure, floral bouquets, or even using your hairpins.

Popular Disney Quotes

Another great way to incorporate some Disney flair into your big day without going overboard is to utilize popular quotes from the movies, books, songs, or even Walt Disney himself. They can be used on invitations, signs, chalkboards, guest books … you name it. A few of our wedding-ready favorites include:

  • “Be our guest.” (Beauty and the Beast)
  • “People always do crazy things when they’re in love.” (Hercules)
  • “To infinity and beyond.” (Toy Story)
  • “You’re the best thing I never knew I needed.” (The Princess and the Frog)
  • “Some people are worth melting for.” (Frozen)
  • “You are my greatest adventure.” (The Incredibles)
  • “You are my new dream.” (Tangled)
  • “All you need is faith and trust, and a little bit of pixie dust.” (Peter Pan)

Floral Arrangements

Flowers and centerpieces are usually an important part of a wedding ceremony and reception. They’re also a great way Disney fans can showcase some magic throughout their big day in a subtle way. As noted above, floral arrangements are a great place for some Hidden Mickeys. You can also choose flowers that fit with your favorite Disney movie, such as red roses (Beauty and the Beast), hibiscus (Lilo and Stitch), cherry blossoms (Mulan), or lilies (Tangled).

Centerpieces

In addition to flowers, you can also incorporate other items into your centerpieces that also have a connection to your favorite Disney stories and characters, but still look classic and show off your personal tastes. There are endless ideas, but some of our favorites include gold candelabras (Beauty and the Beast), snowflake cutouts (Frozen), ornate mirrors (Sleeping Beauty), books (Beauty and the Beast), teacups (Alice in Wonderland), pumpkins (Cinderella), and lanterns (Tangled).

Photo booth

Photo booths are a popular option at weddings. Not only does it give something fun and interactive for your guests to do, but it also allows you to have some memorable photographs even after the photographer calls it a night. Plus, even if you opt to have no other Disney-inspired decor at your wedding, you can still have a little Disney magic tucked away in your photo booth. We recommend creating or purchasing some Disney-theme props for guests to use in the photos — such as mouse ears, signs, hats, etc. They’ll have a blast striking silly poses and you’ll have a unique keepsake from your wedding day. It’s a win-win.

Jewelry & accessories

Jewelry and accessories are generally considered accents anyway, so it only seems natural that you could use them to add a little Disney fun to your big day. There are tons of great ways to incorporate your favorite Disney films, books, and quotes into your apparel and accessories, and tailor them to your personal tastes. Here are a few of our favorite examples to get you started:

  • Writing your new spouse’s name or even “I do” on the bottom of your shoe (Toy Story).
  • A seashell pendant or earrings (The Little Mermaid).
  • A snowflake pendant or earrings (Frozen).
  • Floral hairpiece or headband (Tangled).
  • Engraving a Disney quote on your wedding ring.
  • A Disney-inspired wedding gown or tuxedo.

Music

Last, but certainly not least, be sure to add some of your favorite Disney songs into your wedding reception playlist. “A Whole New World” (Aladdin), “Tale As Old As Time” (Beauty and the Beast), and “I See the Light” (Tangled) are all great songs for you and your new spouse to dance to. Guests will love singing and dancing along to the iconic Disney songs, but it won’t feel overly cheesy amid other popular music being played throughout the night.
